The Breakout Studio team made waves this year, both literally and figuratively.
We’re celebrating every win this year, from our desks to the great outdoors. Our team had something to write home about every month of 2023.
January
Designer Chandler Wescott welcomed first baby, Holden, into the world and the Breakout family grew by one.
February
Project Manager Emma Scharffs took a trip to Amsterdam, where she celebrated her recent engagement on a romantic boat ride.
March
Creative Director Jenn Levreault took a long-deserved vacation to Japan, wow-ing the rest of us with photos of serene scenery and mouth-watering food.
April
Designer Chandler Wescott soaked up the sun on a family trip to the Bahamas, leaving his midwestern coworkers fighting off winter fatigue extremely jealous.
May
Writer Nick Fava visited the world’s biggest pistachio, which is definitely real and not made out of plaster.
June
Senior Writer Elise Johnston had a short story, “A Token Of My Affection,” published in Issue 14 of SORTES Magazine, and the whole Breakout team could not be prouder.
July
Designer Meghan Cleary stood up wake surfing for the first time, we rode RAZRs up a mountain for some incredible views, a moose and her baby graced us with their presence, and the team bonded over three days of cutthroat Mario Kart competition.
August
We welcomed our standout summer Design Intern, Tess Lantz, a recent University of Illinois graduate, AND Director of Merchandise, Danny Holmoe, leveling up our swag credentials for Breakout Merch.
September
Project Manager Gabë Regenhardt is always looking for the next adventure. She visited Lake Tahoe and took a solo bikepacking trip through Idaho.

Senior Designer Jill Dick took her Breakout Book Club book on vacation to Italy, shaming the rest of us who read it (or read some of it) on a couch.

We’re always impressed by each other’s handmade goods, like these adorable amigurumi animals by Senior Designer Maddy Austin, and all of Gabë and Elise’s sewing and knitting projects.

The team got competitive (and a little hungry) at our 7th annual Great Breakout Studio Bake Off. Elise was crowned winner with the most virtually eye-catching baked good!
